Cooper RV 1 Hp Engines

The “RV” is a Cooper produced version of the Johnson X500 engine.

Cooper started to produce these engines in 1942 after the USA entered WW2

The Cooper “RV” 1hp, 4 cycle, air cooled, known and proved for it‟s low running costs.

The first two digits on Cooper serial numbers give the year eg 521234 would have been made in 1952.

The first slant-cylinder, Johnson-copy engine was made by Cooper Engineering Co, Mascot, NSW, in 1942. This was the 5/8 hp JM. Later, don't know what year, the bored-out PT and RV were introduced. Coopers were bought out by Sunbeam Corporation in late 1952.
